SUMMARY:Open Knowledge Models Workshop on EKAW2010
DESCRIPTION:Topics of Interest\nThe workshop is open to all relevant topics
such as but not limited to:\n\n Process Oriented Knowledge Management\n
Service Oriented Knowledge Management\n Knowledge Management Modelling\n
  	Knowledge Engineering Modelling\n Knowledge-Bus Technology\n\nMotivatio
n and Objectives:\nWhen analysing the transformation of the information so
ciety to a knowledge society an industrialisation of knowledge work can be
observed. The maturity\, the quality\, the process-orientation and the al
ignment of knowledge to personal or organisational requirements are indust
rialisation aspects covered by knowledge work. This workshop focuses on pr
ocess-orientation\, based on its evolution over service-orientation toward
s virtualisation and sees the current industrialisation of knowledge work
as a challenge that needs to be tackled not only on social and technical l
evel but also on a conceptual level. As an expression of the maturity the
knowledge work can be modelled in form of knowledge motivation\, routines\
 , situations\, structure and vocabularies\, elements and tools.\n\nThese m
odels can either be expressed in a formal way to be preferably interpreted
by machines in the context of Knowledge Engineering\, or can be expressed
in a semi-formal – often graphical – way to be preferably interpreted
by humans in the context of Knowledge Management. We experience a new lev
el of knowledge maturity and industrialisation of knowledge work and its m
odel representation in both fields\; Knowledge Engineering and Management.
Technological phenomena such as Internet of Things and Internet of Servic
es as well as technology such as service-orientation\, virtualisation and
mash-ups enable to develop orchestration like knowledge conveyer belts\, s
emantic workflows or knowledge buses.\n\nThese technologies are introduced
as a realisation framework of process-oriented and service based knowledg
e management. This approach may be an answer for the requirements of indus
trialisation of knowledge work that keeps the “human in the loop” and
enables the alignment of business and knowledge.\nAs industry and academia
need to keep track with the fast evolution of knowledge work\, this works
hop has been initiated to create an open knowledge model platform. This op
en knowledge model platform has a role for knowledge intensive organisatio
ns similar to open source platforms have for the software development comp
anies: an open shared space for knowledge models and knowledge modelling l
anguages.\nThis workshop calls for scientific and practical papers on\n\n
business and knowledge alignment\,\n knowledge-intensive business modell
ing\,\n knowledge management modelling\,\n modelling languages and the d
eployment of modelling languages in a meta model environment or\n deploym
ent of models in an infrastructure and tool environment.\n\nThe results of
the workshop will be used to kick-off an open knowledge model platform as
a collaboration platform for communities\, a technology hub and model rep
ository for Knowledge Management Process Orchestration under the umbrella
of the Open Model Initiative (www.openmodels.at).\nSustainability:\nThe co
mmunity created in the workshop is invited to kick-off the Open Knowledge
Model (OKM) project within the Open Models Initiative (www.openmodels.at)\
, by creating\, inviting and linking to a large community in the field of
process oriented knowledge management.\nTargeting Audience:\nThe workshop
targets the industrial and academic community to publish and share models
on knowledge management\, provide best practices\, lessons learned and com
monly work on reference processes for using\, interpreting and managing kn
owledge.\n\nAcademic community is invited to publish studies\, concepts\,
prototypes and solutions for modelling languages and meta-modelling langua
ges to describe\, formalise or externalise knowledge and knowledge managem
ent.\nVenue\, Costs and Participation:\nAll workshop participants have to
register to the main conference EKAW and to the workshop at http://ekaw20
10.inesc-id.pt.\nPaper Style:\nPapers for the workshop proceedings have to
  use Springer LNCS style:\nhttp://www.springer.com/computer/lncs?SGWID=0-1
